by the way, when was the last match against Biarritz Olympique in the Top 14?

This Saturday the Section Paloise will play one of its most important matches of the season at Le Hameau. To try to get a little ahead of the bottom of the ranking, and because it is also a new episode in the feud between Béarnais and Basques. In recent seasons against Bayonne, the Section has been faultless. What will it be against the BO? Few recent clashes exist between the two teams.

The last time the Section Paloise won

The teams played well in ProD2 during the 2014/2015 season (for two Pau victories), but they have mostly crossed paths during the last decade, each in turn making the lift between the elite and its antechamber. We have to go back 15 years to find any trace of a Section Paloise / Biarritz Olympique in Top 14. It was on May 6, 2006, a match on the unbalanced paper between Palois in the fight for the maintenance and Biarrots champions of France in title. However, it was the Section Paloise who won, 26 to 20, with tests by captain Jean-Charles Cistacq and Thomas Soucaze, and 16 points at the foot of the young Lionel Beauxis, 20 years old at the time … The Palois Damien Traille wore that day the Red and White jersey of Biarritz, then that Nicolas Brusque or Imanol Harinordoquy, who had also left Pau for the soundtrack were absent. There was also on the Basque side the Oloronais Sébastien Tillous Bordes.

The Basques, despite the defeat, would once again qualify in the final phase and win the Brennus, crushing Toulouse. The memories are much darker on the Bearn side since three weeks after this success, the Palois will still be relegated to ProD2.
