Emmanuel Macron raises a “taboo” and has “reason to do it”said Sunday March 17 on franceinfo Nicolas Tenzer, teacher at Sciences Po, specialist in geostrategic issues, and author of Our war, crime and oblivion: for strategic thinking published by the Observatory. Returning from Germany, where he participated in a tripartite summit on Friday with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the French president once again raised the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine, in a interview at Parisian-Today in France.

“Emmanuel Macron was totally naive. He is not the only one”

“If we don’t go faster, further, stronger, we will be forced to”explains Nicolas Tenzer. “We have never won a war when we fight in a sort of backyard, when we have our war fought by someone else. There is a certain moment when we must directly ask ourselves the question of ‘commitment”, he added. According to the geostrategy specialist, Westerners must “accelerate the supply of ammunition and weapons of all kinds to the Ukrainians as much as possible” to avoid sending troops.

In this hypothesis, Western soldiers could intervene in Ukraine for three reasons, according to Nicolas Tenzer: to provide “help with training, mine clearance” or conduct a “action to counter cyberattacks”but also to secure “areas now liberated from Ukraine” that “Russia will not dare to attack”. Finally, last possibility, lead “combat operations”. According to him, to avoid it, “Today we must see our effort through to the end” towards Ukraine.

Emmanuel Macron believes that Russia is not a great power, but “a middle power equipped with nuclear power” : “That’s the reality. Economically, Russia is a dwarf. It’s a dwarf that’s in decline. It’s a dwarf that’s losing population, that’s been experiencing massive capital flight for many, many years now. years and a drain of talent”, says Nicolas Tenzer. According to him, between “NATO troops and Russian troops, the ratio is 1 to 20. All NATO troops, France included, United States included, is 20 times more than Russian troops.”

Nicolas Tenzer believes that nuclear power “is above all a tool in Putin’s mouth to try to dissuade us”but “we too would be capable of physically destroying Russia”he specifies.

He also took a critical look at the diplomatic precautions taken by the Western world towards the strong man in the Kremlin. “Emmanuel Macron was totally naive. He is not the only one. There are other leaders, both in France and in other countries of the European Union and in the United States, who were totally naive “he estimated.
