The seat was vacated by Catherine Fournier, elected Mayor of Longueuil in the last municipal elections.
The vote is certainly a real test for the political parties, in particular for the CAQ and solidarity formations which hope to delight the constituency traditionally acquired by the Parti québécois (PQ).
In an attempt to keep the county in sovereignist colors, the PQ presented the former NDP MP Pierre Natel, while the formation of François Legault bet on the trade unionist Shirley Dorismond.
The Liberal Party of Quebec is trying its luck with Émilie Nollet, while Québec solidaire is participating in the race with Shophika Vaithyanathasarma.
The high number of candidates, on the other hand, risks dividing the vote, which gives some uncertainty to the outcome of the ballot.
Polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for voters.
