The firm has assessed the economic benefits of the shipyard, located in Lévis. She estimates that the project will generate tax benefits of $3 billion in government taxes. Nearly 1,500 Canadian companies will directly benefit from the worksite’s contracts.
Deloitte is thus updating its 2020 estimates to take into account, in particular, the entry of Chantier Davie into the federal government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (SNCN). Chantier Davie expects to obtain revenues of between 8 billion and 12 billion from 2020 to 2040 for “future contracts”.
In 2020, Deloitte estimated the economic benefits of Chantier Davie at 17.5 billion over the 2020-2040 horizon rather than the 21 billion listed in the updated study.
The study points out that Davie employees received an average annual salary of $89,400 in 2019, or 27% more than the average salary in Quebec. From 2014 to 2019, the company directly employed an average of 850 people (full-time equivalent).
