This is the end of Habitat, a company founded 60 years ago in England. She had democratized access to designer furniture. The Bobigny court (Seine-Saint-Denis) has just pronounced its liquidation, 20 days after its placement in receivership. This brand has 25 stores in France and employs 315 people.

Ratiba Hamache, CGT union representative, worked at Habitat for 38 years. According to her, the situation could still be saved in June, “if we had acted on the alert of the auditor“. The brand, in financial difficulty for years, was bought in 2020 by Thierry le Guénic, a businessman used to taking over stores. “If you take over a business and you don’t take care of it, it’s better to abstain.”estimates Ratiba Hamache.
