Bus crash in Türkiye leaves nine dead, 26 injured

The accident happened around 5am local time. A passenger bus coming from Eskisehir in central Turkey hit head-on a bridge pier on a highway approaching Ankara. At least nine people were killed and 26 injured, according to an initial report from the governor of the Turkish capital.

According to the channel, the accident led to the intervention of numerous vehicles and emergency personnel. An investigation has been opened to determine the precise circumstances of the accident, AFP said.

Bus accidents are common in Turkey. In May, ten people were killed and 40 injured in a collision between a bus, two cars and a truck on a highway near Mersin in the south of the country.
