Another day of strike at the RATP. Ile-de-France bus and tram traffic will be “strongly disturbed”Monday, May 23, “with 60% of traffic guaranteed on average”, warns the Paris transport authority. Metros and RERs will not be affected. Sunday afternoon, in a press release, the RATP said it planned 3 trams out of 5 on average during peak hours. Several lines (T1, T3a, T3b and T8) will be at a standstill between late morning and mid-afternoon. On the roads, on average 2 out of 3 buses will circulate, with the interruption of certain lines.
Two additional days of strike are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday at the call of all the unions, after the day of March 25 which had greatly disrupted the bus and tram networks. “For the day of Tuesday May 24, the traffic should be slightly improved”advanced the RATP, Sunday.
For more than a year, the RATP has been negotiating with the unions to adapt the working conditions of its 18,000 machinists to the opening up to competition. No agreement having been found, the management announced, at the beginning of May, that it would take unilateral measures.
