Bus accident in Lyster | Five year old boy loses his life

A five-year-old boy died and another 10-year-old was seriously injured when the bus they were riding in crashed into a bucket truck Tuesday afternoon in Lyster, Center-du-Québec.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the accident occurred on 8e rang Ouest, near the Fillion road.

Two workers were in the bucket truck, which was immobilized on the shoulder lane where it was performing maintenance work. They suffered no serious injuries, the SQ said.

The bus driver, a septuagenarian, was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger, said the police force.

The 10-year-old boy must be transferred to a hospital in the Montreal region to treat his injuries, but his life would not be in danger, according to the SQ.

“It was dusk,” said Louis-Philippe Bibeau, a spokesperson for the SQ. The driver was traveling westbound. In all likelihood, he could have been blinded. ”

The 8the rang was closed to traffic in both directions between the intersections of Route Fillion and Route Anna.

An investigator and an accident scene reconstruction specialist were dispatched to the scene to understand and shed light on the causes and circumstances surrounding the collision.
