Burn the fire, Juliette Armanet

The introductory song to this second album by Juliette Armanet is called The last day of the disco. Day not yet come, alas. For those who lived their adolescence against the grain, at Springsteen or the Eagles, it’s the button that never ceases to explode in the face of pop. It’s turning into an acne attack these days. From Alex Désilets to Clara Luciani, it pulsates, pulses, swarms. And here is Juliette, the heiress of Véro Sanson, who gets down to it. But, but… so skillfully, with such skill, such a sad AND irrepressible sense of melody, that the pulsation becomes a necessary space of freedom. Boom Boom Baby, she sings, to sum up. Dance when things are not going well, don’t dance all the time either: the ballads, at the heart of the album, sing pain slowly, Christophe way (I give it to you), France Gall Michel Berger period (Red on the cheeks), or Barbara (Imagine the love). And Juliet dashes back onto the dance floor to Save my life. No choice.
