Burma: an army massacre provokes the indignation of the UN and the international community

In Burma, the army is responsible for a particularly deadly attack against a village of rebels. The soldiers opened fire on the population, sometimes from the sky, killing civilians. The provisional toll reports at least 100 dead and dozens injured. The UN says it is “horrified”.

Stunned civilians film the ruins of their village in Pazi Gyi (Burma). They have just suffered an air attack. Dead bodies litter the ground. Several dozen deaths are to be deplored, after the passage of military helicopters. Some victims are children. The ruling junta rightly claims the raid. According to the soldiers, a meeting of armed opponents was held in the village. The deadly strike targeted the rebel region of Kanbalu.

People flee to Thailand

Europe, the United Nations and human rights associations say they are horrified. Security forces systematically target civilians.
