Bullet holes in a Westmount cafe

A business was the target of projectiles of unknown origin Tuesday morning in the Westmount sector on the island of Montreal.

Calls to 911 reported around 3:20 a.m. an alarm system went off in the building on Sainte-Catherine Street West, near Gladstone Avenue.

When police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrived on the scene, they located projectile impacts on the front facade of the business.

A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene and the dog handler was called for a search, said SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

Forensic identification technicians and investigators are expected on site to try to determine the circumstances surrounding this event which did not cause any injuries, it was added.
