Economic sanctions, but refusal to give planes to the Ukrainians, refusal of an air exclusion zone, refusal of anything that could lead to a military engagement. All this to avoid a third world war or a nuclear apocalypse. Really ? Which countries would support Russia in a war? Would it even be in China’s interest? As for the nuclear apocalypse, Putin would have to be crazy to risk it. And Putin is not crazy. He knows full well how far he can go in his project to recreate the Russian Empire. He knows full well that the West will not intervene militarily. We light up buildings in yellow and blue. What support this gives to the Ukrainians! And by the time the sanctions take effect—spurring a Russian uprising or a hypothetical coup—how many Ukrainians will be dead?
