In a street in Paris, a building a priori like the others is actually a positive energy building. It produces more energy than it consumes. One of the keys to this success is on the roof. Thus, there is vegetation to insulate the roof and stone to retain heat in winter and coolness in summer. The building can also rely on the layout of the housing.

Other energy self-sufficient buildings exist in France. In Angers (Maine-et-Loire), a house draws its water from a well and solar panels produce the energy, which is then stored in batteries. The building of tomorrow could go even further. It would be a construction whose facades are filled with microalgae. Behind the windows, there would be an exchanger capable of heating the building and the water.
