(Buffalo) Forward Tage Thompson has been placed aside for personal reasons, the Buffalo Sabers announced Thursday.
He did not play Wednesday night against Boston.
Thompson is sixth on the Sabers with 19 points this season, including nine goals.
He missed nine games with a left arm injury.
The 26-year-old American scored 47 goals last season, setting a career high for goals and points (94).
Buffalo has only one victory in five games.
The Sabers will play again Saturday night at home, against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They will visit the Montreal Canadiens next Thursday.
