Buffalo Bills | Damar Hamlin is experiencing ‘remarkable improvement’

Three days after suffering a cardiac arrest in the middle of a match, Damar Hamlin is still “seriously ill”, but he has experienced “remarkable improvement” in the last 24 hours.

In a medical update released Thursday morning, the Buffalo Bills said Hamlin “has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact,” according to doctors caring for him at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

“His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress,” the team writes.

Kaiir Elam, Hamlin’s Bills teammate, tweeted that the 24-year-old safety “is better, awake and showing more signs of improvement.”

Recall that Hamlin collapsed to the ground Monday after colliding with Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. His heart stopped beating and trainers applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the ground. He was transported by ambulance 16 minutes later.

The Bills are scheduled to practice Thursday for the first time since the incident. Their next game is Sunday against the New England Patriots.
