Scary scene in the game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed after colliding with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. His situation is now considered “critical” while he is intubated in hospital.
After the contact, Hamlin got up, then fell backwards a second or two later and stood still. He was surrounded by players from both teams, dumbfounded, and was removed from the field 16 minutes later.
According to the broadcast team, trainers immediately applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation to Hamlin.
He left in an ambulance as the shocked Bills players gathered in a prayer circle on the field. A Cincinnati reporter revealed that Hamlin “had a pulse,” but “couldn’t breathe on his own.” FOX added that the player is “intubated” and that his situation is “critical”.
The game was officially postponed, by decision of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. There were 5:58 left in the first quarter.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills,” Goodell added. We will provide all the information as it becomes available. »
Hamlin, 24, is in his second year with the Bills. He didn’t get much playing time as a rookie, but he’s been an important defensive cog in the Bills’ defense this season.
