(New York) The New York Mets have hired Buck Showalter as manager.
Owner Steve Cohen announced the news on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.
The 65-year-old Showalter will take over from Luis Rojas, sacked in early October after two losing seasons.
Showalter will be his fifth major league team and has coached more than 3,000 games in 20 seasons. He worked with the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles.
Between 1992 and 2018, he built an efficiency rate of .506 and registered 1,551 wins. He has been voted American League Manager of the Year three times.
