Bryan Marchment passed away | The Press

Former defender Bryan Marchment has died, we learned on Wednesday. He was 53 years old.

He died in Montreal, where the NHL Draft will take place on Thursday and Friday. The reasons for his death are still unknown.

Marchment played 17 NHL seasons, playing the equivalent of 926 games with the Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Hartford Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Colorado Avalanche and the Calgary Flames.

The strongman has accumulated 2307 penalty minutes during his career.

The Torontonian served as a scout for the Sharks organization after his playing career.

He is the father of forward Mason Marchment who played for the Florida Panthers last season.
