The Minister of the Interior put forward the idea, Thursday October 10, of entering into financial agreements with certain countries so that they can welcome illegal immigrants who are transiting to come to France.

, in the columns of Parisianthe Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau indicated that he wanted “use transit countries to send back people who cannot be removed to their country of origin”. The minister wants to deal with OQTF, obligations to leave French territory. Today, only 7% of these court decisions result in the return of an illegal migrant to their country of origin.

The source of the blockage comes from the reluctance of countries to welcome these people back into their territory. Bruno Retailleau proposes to enter into financial agreements with the countries through which illegal immigrants transit, so that they can welcome them. However, this idea is not always feasible. Bruno Retailleau’s proposal is Italian-inspired. In Italy, far-right leader Giorgia Meloni signed a 650 million euro deal with Albania. The aim is for asylum requests to be processed before migrants even enter Italy.
