Bruno Retailleau judges that “we must apply the laws”, without disavowing Laurent Wauquiez

Laurent Wauquiez, the president (LR) of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes announced last Saturday the exit of his region from the “zero net artificialization” system. It “does not go beyond the law”, according to the boss of LR in the Senate Bruno Retailleau who specifies that “the ZAN is a crazy invention”.

“We must apply the laws”recognizes the president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, Bruno Retailleau, Thursday October 5 on franceinfo, while Laurent Wauquiez announced Saturday September 30 the exit of his region from “zero net artificialization” (ZAN). The ZAN law, adopted in July, entrusts the regions with the task of setting an objective for reducing the concreteization of land through their planning document (Sraddet), to achieve the “zero net artificialization” in 2050.

Bruno Retailleau does not, however, disavow the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. According to him, Laurent Wauquiez “does not go beyond the law, it suspends a procedure for drawing up the Sraddet”. The ZAN is especially “an instrument that will make housing more expensive”, he continues. Worse, “it is, in reality, a weapon of decline”.

“There have never been so many mayors and deputies who have resigned”, also affirms the leader of the LR senators. According to him, “the first reason is in particular that mayors no longer control their town planning, and the ZAN is a crazy invention”.
