The nomination of the mayor of Quebec was made last Friday during a meeting of the board of directors of the UMQ.

The new committee “will have the mandate to identify ways to prevent and fight against homelessness,” the Union said Monday in a press release.

During the municipal council of November 21, the municipal councilors of Quebec adopted a unanimous resolution in favor of the organization of a summit on homelessness in Quebec which would be organized under the aegis of the UMQ, in 2023, on a date which has not yet been announced.

During the fall 2021 municipal election campaign, Mr. Marchand said he was aiming for zero homelessness by 2025.
