His last ball, his last trip… tonight is his last game before retirement! Bruno Delatte, a man in the shadows, smiling and indispensable, whose departure deserves to be saluted.
Arrived in 1968
For everyone at FCG Bruno, it’s “apple”, a nickname given to him from his first steps in the club in the early 80s. It was David Aucagne who found it for him because Bruno regularly carried Pierre Pommier’s bag, a injured player. The anecdote speaks well of the devotion of this Northerner who landed in Grenoble in 1968, because the mountain air was better for his asthmatic sister.
Water, balls, meals… and referees!
In 1980, Bruno Delatte attended his first training sessions, and then he never left the FCG! 42 years taking care of water, balls, jerseys, meals, referees “here they know that they are well received” he said. In 2013, he even became the only CDI of the club, which absolutely wanted to thank him and somewhere to protect him. Less known than the players, Bruno is a figure of the FCG, the last of which will be greeted this Thursday evening against Bourg-en-Bresse.
He always brings his good mood, it’s important, like for example this season when it was a little more difficult.
Antonin Berruyer is the third red and blue line: “He’s the first to arrive at the stadium, he always brings his good mood, it’s important, like for example this season when it was a little more difficult.”
After his last match Bruno Delatte will have time to go to court, one of his favorite activities, and also to visit all the former players who have already invited him. And there are many.
