Bruce Cassidy gets his revenge

You should never underestimate the vengeful spirit of your former employees when you fire them. Talk to the Boston Bruins, who lost their first home game this season on Monday when former head coach Bruce Cassidy returned.

The Bruins had won their first 14 games at TD Garden this season, which is a National Hockey League (NHL) mark. The last time they suffered defeat in front of their fans was on April 16, season and playoffs combined.

But when the Vegas Golden Knights showed up in Boston, led by Cassidy, who was facing his former team for the first time since being fired last June, the streak came to an end. The Nevada club won 4-3 in a shootout.

Cassidy, who went 245-108-46 with the Bruins, didn’t seem overly moved by the win, though he admitted to putting a few dollars on the board.

“Look, I thought about it probably for three seconds,” he said, according to the NHL’s official website. [Briser] this streak means nothing to me.”

“As I said, I appreciate [la victoire], I did what I could to help the team win. I’m in Vegas now and I’m doing what I can there, ”added the pilot, who however did not sulk his pleasure with a day off in Boston while walking in his old adopted city.

For the coach

Several players had hinted that they were going to do everything to get their coach a victory with the Knights. This is the case of Chandler Stephenson, who left the tape aside when questioned about it.

“I would say yes, he said with a smile before the match. I’m sure all the guys on this team want to win for him, help him in that way. So I’m pretty confident that the guys are going to have this idea in mind, and it will be the same for him.

The least we can say is that the players responded on the ice. And despite a video to thank Cassidy for his career in Boston, no one was moved.

“I didn’t know what the reaction was going to be,” Cassidy said. It was a very nice gesture on the part of the Bruins organization. I appreciate it. From the start I have [eu] great respect for them.”

“Now I would like to come back here this spring.”
