(Toronto) The world premiere of the film Brotherdirected by Clement Virgo, will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival next September.

Brothera coming-of-age tale set in Toronto’s hip-hop scene, is based on the book of the same name by David Chariandy.
Mr. Chariandy’s novel won the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Award in 2017 and was a finalist in The Battle of the Books of CBC two years later.
The film will star Lamar Johnson, who starred in The Hate U Give and Aaron Pierre, who notably starred in The Underground Railroad.
Canadian director Clement Virgo is perhaps best known for his miniseries adaptation of the book Aminatain 2015.
The Toronto International Film Festival takes place September 8-18.
