Brooklyn Nets | Sick, coach Steve Nash misses the game against the Raptors

Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash sat out Monday’s game against the Toronto Raptors due to NBA health and safety protocol.

Assistant coach Jacque Vaughn made up for the absence of Nash, who received the diagnosis shortly before the start of the game.

Nash held his pregame press briefing as scheduled in which he clarified that he did not hold a conversation with Kyrie Irving about his vaccination status. The Nets point guard can’t take part in the team’s home games due to a New York City measure that requires all professional athletes to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Nets suffered a COVID-19 outbreak in December, which forced three games to be postponed.

Nash added he doesn’t believe Ben Simmons will train this week, making the former 76 star’s attendance unlikelyers when the Nets face his former team in Philadelphia on March 10.

A return to play date has not been set for Simmons.

The Nets, however, are hopeful that Kevin Durant will return to action later this week.
