(Philadelphia) Brock Purdy threw four touchdown passes for 314 yards, Deebo Samuel scored three touchdowns and 49ers San Francisco dominated the Philadelphia Eagles 42-19 on Sunday.
Eagles (10-2) quarterback Jalen Hurts was tested for concussion during the game. Hurts left the field in the fourth quarter and headed straight to the locker room. He received the green light to return to the game with about 10 minutes remaining.
It’s unclear exactly when Hurts was injured. When the quarterback returned from the locker room, the Eagles were down 35-13 and heading for their first home loss this season.
Hurts completed a two-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith on the offensive sequence following his return from his physical. He finished the game with 26 of 45 successful passes, for gains of 298 yards.
It was a replay of last year’s National championship match. This time, the 49ers dominated with touchdowns on six consecutive offensive streaks, in addition to seeing two players ejected.
“It didn’t really relate to last year,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. We were just excited to come out here and play a great team, play well and win. »
Purdy put the finishing touches on the 49’s dominanceers (9-3) with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Samuel.
Purdy took advantage of an Eagles defense that left receivers unguarded on several occasions. Samuel also made the Eagles pay in the third quarter, achieving the 12-yard rushing touchdown, in addition to catching a 48-yard pass for the major, bringing the score to 28-13.
The Eagles have come from behind to win five times this season, including their last four games.
However, the Eagles had never trailed against the 49ers and Shanahan. The 49ers are 33-1 (including playoffs) when leading by eight or more points at halftime, with Shanahan as coach.
Hurts did his part in the first half to lead the Eagles to the 20-yard line at the 49ers, completing a 38-yard pass to AJ Brown during his team’s first offensive sequence. Hurts then connected with Brown for 17 yards, when the offense returned to the field. However, both streaks ended with Jake Elliott field goals of 26 and 39 yards to take a 6-0 lead.
“Usually when you compete, you win,” Hurts said. I don’t think we were up to par today. »
Purdy spotted Brandon Aiyuk for a two-yard touchdown and the 49ers led 7-6.
Christian McCaffrey, who finished the duel with 93 yards rushing, scored the major with 38 seconds in the second quarter to make the score 14-6.
