Brittany is resisting the crisis better than other French regions

Brittany has withstood the tourism crisis than the other French regions last summer.

This is what emerges from the last INSEE survey : a 7.7% drop in the number of overnight stays between May and September 2021 compared to the same period in 2019 in the region, but it is the weakest contraction from all French regions. Nationally, the drop is over 17%.

Campsites are resisting …

With nearly 4 million overnight stays, Breton hotels suffer more than campsites (11 million overnight stays). The decrease in hotels is 14% compared to 5% in campsites.

Faced with health constraints, the share of foreign tourists lost 10 points in 2021 (11% compared to 21% in 2019).

…. and September 2021 better than 2019

We also see that the decline in attendance has eased as the season progresses: -21% in May-June, -5% in July-August. Better still, the tourist frequentation in Brittany in September 2021 (all accommodation included) even exceeded its level of September 2019.
