It is making a comeback… In bookstores. American pop singer Britney Spears, who freed herself two years ago from a controversial tutelage exercised mainly by her father, will publish her autobiography in the fall, her publisher, the American giant Simon & Schuster, announced on Tuesday. For the time being, no information concerning potential translations of the work has been communicated.

Out in bookstores on October 24

Simply titled The Woman In Me (“The woman in me”), the star’s memoir of the 2000s is presented as a “incredibly moving story of freedom, glory, motherhood, survival, faith and hope”. On the cover, Britney Spears poses in profile, wearing silver pants and hands resting on her chest. The book is expected in bookstores in the United States on October 24, its publisher said.

The pop star, discovered in the Mickey Mouse club then revealed in his adolescence by the tube Baby One More Time and confirmed by the successes Oops!…I did it again And Toxichad been placed under legal guardianship in 2008, after having shown psychological disorders.

Almost fourteen years later, and at the end of a publicized legal saga, a court in Los Angeles lifted this guardianship in November 2021, judged “abusive” by the singer, to allow her to regain control of her personal life. “It’s the best day of my life”she said at the time.

Telling your story “in your own words”

Aged 41 today, the star had already spoken briefly since the lifting of the guardianship, which prevented her in particular from removing her contraceptive IUD despite her desire to have other children. The singer has since married model Sam Asghari, 29. The artist believes that his father Jamie Spears had it “punished” during these years of guardianship by preventing him from “to be able to see anyone or say anything”.

Written with “candor and humor”Britney Spears’ memoir testifies to the importance “for women to finally tell their stories, in their own terms”argued its publisher on Tuesday. “Are you ready”added the singer on her Instagram account followed by more than 42 million subscribers.
