LOS ANGELES | After months of proceedings and twists and turns, a Los Angeles court decided on Friday to return control of her life to singer Britney Spears by lifting the guardianship measure that has weighed on her for 13 years and that the star describes as “” abusive ”.

“Guardianship over Britney Spears’ person and property ends effective today. This is the court ruling, ”said case judge Brenda Penny.
“I think I’ll cry for the rest of the day !!!! It’s the best day of my life … praise the Lord, ”the star reacted on her Instagram account, thanking her fans for their support.
“What awaits Britney, and this is the first time that we can say that for a decade, depends only on one person: Britney”, for his part rejoiced his lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, to his exit from the courthouse.
Before the court, the lawyer had indicated that a “safety net” was going to be put in place to guarantee the finances and the well-being of Britney Spears. The accountant chosen by the singer to replace her father as financial tutor will continue to supervise the management of her property, estimated at some $ 60 million by the American media.
The 39-year-old artist had already won his case in court at the end of September, by obtaining the suspension of his father Jamie Spears from the role of guardian.
But Britney above all asks for the right to regain control of her personal life and Judge Penny should accede to her request Friday by canceling the guardianship measure put in place in 2008 after psychological disorders manifested by the star.

Britney Spears has been supported for years in her efforts by an “army” of admirers demanding the “release” of their idol and who are regularly present in Los Angeles courtroom.

The star had also complained of having to work at a sustained pace despite this measure of supervision and “pay for everyone around her” without being able to make her own decisions. In particular, she had to pay the very high fees of her father’s lawyers who opposed her in this procedure.
“I just want my life back, it’s been thirteen years and that’s enough,” she begged.
In July, Judge Penny allowed Britney Spears to choose her own lawyer, something she had not been able to do since 2008.
It is this lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, who obtained the suspension of Jamie Spears, a “cruel, toxic and abusive man” according to him, and who is now fighting to have his client’s guardianship canceled.
Jamie Spears has defended himself against any abuse or wrongdoing, but Mathew Rosengart has asked the court to open an investigation into his handling of Britney’s affairs.
A hearing has been scheduled for December to examine this aspect and outstanding financial issues, including attorneys’ fees that would exceed $ 1 million, according to the New York Times.
Britney Spears wishes among other things to emancipate herself from this tutelage to be able to marry her fiancé, Sam Asghari, whom she met in 2016 on the set of a video clip for the title Slumber Party.
