(Merritt) Police say two people are dead after a “homemade” plane crashed north of the Merritt airport in B.C., about 270 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.
Merritt RCMP said emergency personnel were notified of the crash Sunday evening. Responding personnel found the driver and passenger dead.
Police described the two-seater plane as “home-made” and “amphibious.”
RCMP said the plane was two kilometres from the airport when it crashed east of Highway 5A.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada announced that it would deploy a team of investigators to shed light on the accident.
The Bureau says it was a Coot A amphibious aircraft, capable of landing on water and land.
