British actor Tom Wilkinson, twice nominated for an Oscar, has died at 75

British actor Tom Wilkinson is no more. A few hours before the year 2024, the famous actor across the Channel passed away at the age of 75, as his family and his agent announced to local media. Known internationally for major roles in films like The Full Monty And Shakespeare in Lovehe was also nominated twice for the Oscars: in 2001, for the Oscar for best actor for the film In The Bedroomand in 2008, for the Oscar for best supporting actor for the film Michael Clayton. Unfortunately, Tom Wilkinson did not obtain either of these two prestigious awards, respectively given to the Spanish actor Javier Bardem for the first, and Denzel Washington for the second.

Made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2004, Tom Wilkinson continued to work and did not retire. In recent weeks, the late actor had agreed to return to the role of Gerald Cooper for the series sequel given to the film The Full Monty, 26 years after its release. The actor reportedly died of sudden death

According to a short statement from the family, Tom Wilkinson’s death appears as natural as it is brutal, and the actor would not have succumbed to a long illness but to a sudden death : “It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announces that he died suddenly at his home on December 30. His wife and family were with him,” we learn, without further details. At the end of the press release, the agent calls for respecting the wishes of the Wilkinson family: “The family requests privacy at this time..” For the moment, the date of his funeral has not been communicated, but will in all likelihood be organized in 2024…
