In Britain, anti-immigration protests are increasing on Sunday, August 4, following the murder of three little girls earlier this week. The British government fears an escalation.
Scenes of chaos in Bristol and Middlesbrough on Sunday 4 August. In Rotherham, police officers try to block a group of protesters who wanted to attack a shelter for asylum seekers. In no time, the violence has spread throughout England, which is experiencing its seventh day of riots. Since Monday, far-right activists have been causing disorder with racist slogans.We no longer want to see people arriving illegally on boats from countries where they are safe.” says one activist.
A hundred people arrested
Police have arrested around 100 people and have vowed to prosecute anyone involved in the clashes. The protests come after false rumours spread about the alleged origins of the attacker who killed three little girls earlier this week. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said of the violence:Those involved in this violence will face the law. The police will make arrests and charges will be filed.“Despite these statements, calls for demonstrations are increasing and raising fears of an escalation throughout the country.
