“Bringing my experience and my enthusiasm to Stade Toulousain”

David Mélé left his position as rear coach of Chambéry (Nationale) this summer to join the staff of Ugo Mola in Toulouse. He will be in charge of the “skills”. A club he already knows a little about since he had worn the colors of the club during the 2015-2016 season. Back with him on the friendly match won by Toulouse this Thursday in Toulon.

What do you think of this first outing of the season?

“The intentions and ambitions shown validate the work we did during the camp last week. We were able to feed on crumbs offensively and press where it hurts. We told the players to let go and put in some the speed. We are very satisfied with the investment of the players, confirmed or young. Afterwards, it was only a friendly match, we must not get carried away.”

Among the negative points, the indiscipline in the scrum in the first half…

“It’s one of the black spots, indiscipline tonight. We will have to find solutions, I am convinced that Virgile Lacombe and his players will do what is necessary to settle these small details which prevent us from launching our game. . It will be a big focus this week. Virgil, he knows what to focus on.”

“Ugo told me he was looking for someone in my profile to compensate for the departure of AB Zondagh the year before. According to Clément Poitrenaud, there were shortcomings last season in relation to that The staff wanted to integrate someone, I’m lucky it’s me, they expect me to help the players progress, to bring some of my experience thanks to my various adventures in France and abroad. Also bring my enthusiasm and my joie de vivre which I hope will breathe new life into the staff. We will all strive to do better than last season. Everyone has high goals.”
