Benjamin Pavard, back in the blue jersey, scored the only goal of the game, before Mike Maignan made an extraordinary save to save two points for the Blues in Ireland on Monday.
After their demonstration against the Netherlands on Friday, the Blues had to settle for a narrow victory in Ireland (0-1), Monday, March 27. Two successes which allow them to ideally embark on the race for qualification for Euro 2024. At the Aviva Stadium, Benjamin Pavard scored the only French goal since his attacking friends were well contained, then Mike Maignan s is illustrated at the very end of the match to save the success of the Blues.
Mike Maignan: 8/10
As against the Netherlands, the doorman of the Blues had very few stops to make… until the last five minutes. He has a firm hand on a strike from James McClean (84th), then shines with a tap and then a monumental parade to get the ball out which was spinning in the skylight after a header from Nathan Collins (90th + 1). He saves two points for the Blues.
Theo Hernandez: 4/10
Little in sight offensively, he did not succeed in what he undertook, with a lot of loss of balls and imprecise passes. Defensively, he struggled to contain Ogbene and fouls.
Dayot Upamecano: 6.5/10
He always imposes himself a little more like the boss of the central defense, with solid interventions, like his counter on a strike from Jayson Molumby (82nd), and bright openings for his attackers, as towards Randal Kolo Muani (9th).
Ibrahima Konate: 5.5/10
The defender covered the rises of his side well, played a serious part overall, but with a little lightness on certain interventions at the end of the match.
Benjamin Pavard: 7/10
He celebrated his return to the blue jersey with a powerful and distant shot which he has the secret of, to offer victory to the Blues. Apart from this goal, he has not taken his lane much and his relationship with Randal Kolo Muani lacks automatisms. Replaced by Jules Koundé in the 81st minute.
Adrian Rabiot: 5/10
The midfielder was not as comfortable as on his last outings, with a lack of fluidity offensively, always playing at the same pace. He still attempted a shot on target (75th) but was more defensively illustrated on opposing set pieces. Replaced in the 81st minute by Aurélien Tchouameni.
Eduardo Camavinga: 6.5/10
With a lot of volume, he made up for the rises of his defenders enormously, with in particular a saving return and a very good tackle on Molumby to make up for an error by Théo Hernandez. Offensively, he brought percussion and was precise in his passes.
Antoine Griezmann: 6.5/10
The vice-captain energizes the game with his one-touch game and always responds to drop very low to help his defense. His set pieces are always well taken.
Randal Kolo Muani: 5/10
Wisp at the start of the first period, Randal Kolo Muani made the difference with his dribbling and his speed, but he showed waste in the last gesture and lost a lot of balls.
Kylian Mbappe: 5/10
Identified as the number 1 danger by the Irish, the French captain was always taken by at least two Irish defenders, and could not make the difference as usual. He was forced to fetch the balls quite low down the pitch, but was then muzzled.
Olivier Giroud: 4/10
A frustrating evening for the center forward of the Blues, which his teammates never knew how to find in a good position. Replaced by Moussa Diaby in the 65th minute, who made a good entry and tried his luck on a deflected shot by the Irish goalkeeper (69th).
