No other First Lady has had this honor. Installed at the Élysée since 2017, Brigitte Macron arouses curiosity so much so that the First Lady interests the screenwriters. Proof of this is, Gaumont will develop a series on his life. Entitled “Brigitte, a free woman”, this mini-series will have the mission of “retrace the romantic trajectory of the First Lady
“ said the press release released by Gaumont this Tuesday, April 16.
Comprising 6 45-minute episodes, the mini-series will be written by screenwriters Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau. The duo notably collaborated on the detective series I lied, in 2021, and Mirage, series released in 2020, produced by France 2. While we already know a lot about this project in the making, a few questions remain unanswered… Who will take on the role of Brigitte Macron? That of Emmanuel Macron? When will the series be released? On what medium will it be broadcast? Questions to which we do not have the answers at the moment.
A huge gamble for the screenwriters
Questioned by our colleagues from Le Figaro, Bénédicte Charles spoke about this monumental project. “Brigitte, a free woman” will meet Emmanuel Macron and the French teacher, as part of a theater workshop, during the 1992-1993 school year until the current period. However, the screenwriter specifies that “the series will also include flashbacks, in order to tell a certain history of France, that of the 70s-80s-90s”.
“It’s a huge gamble. A touching subject. At first we were a little stuck. We had to get to grips with the subject and free oneself from it to offer fiction. Brigitte Macron is a fascinating character, we wanted to approach her in a romantic, almost melodramatic way, because of the romantic breath of her destiny.“. In any case, there seems to be no doubt that the Élysée will keep an eye on this beautiful project and that the presidential couple will not fail to preview it.
