Brigitte Macron denounced, Tuesday, May 16, in a statement sent to AFP, “cowardice, stupidity and violence” attackers of his great-nephew. Jean-Baptiste Trogneux had been attacked the day before on the sidelines of a demonstration against the pension reform in Amiens (Somme), aafter Emmanuel Macron’s interview on TF1.

Monday evening, in the center of the city, Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, 30, owner of the famous chocolate factory of the same name, was recognized and taken to task by a group which took part in a “pan” against the pension reform, told AFP his father, Jean-Alexandre. Eight people were arrested and placed in police custody, according to information from France Bleu Picardie.

“I am in total solidarity with my family and in constant contact, since 11 p.m. yesterday, with Jean-Baptiste (my little nephew, victim of the attack) and Jean-Alexandre (my nephew, father of the victim)”she explained. “I have repeatedly denounced this violence which can only lead to the worst”, added the wife of the President of the Republic.
