Female power is a subject that continues to fascinate the general public, and the question comes up again in the midst of the presidential campaign. At 62, Anne Hidalgo is married to a politician, named Jean-Marc Germain, 55, with whom she has a child, Arthur, born in 2001. The mayor of Paris, who wants to settle at the Elysée recently confided in the hardships that her couple is going through, because of the work that is hers.
“I could never have fallen in love with a teenager…”
She indeed says that her husband is drooling, that he does more than her in their life, and that in addition, he is refused “many things” because he is “Mr. Hidalgo”, a rather unpopular status under Macron, she says. She, who is older than her man, however, does not manage to define herself as a cougar, as she explains to our colleagues. She slips on this subject as follows:Unlike others, I could never have fallen in love with a teenager…”
A remark that was perceived as a well-felt tackle to Brigitte Macron, who met her future husband, Emmanuel, on the benches of La Providence high school, in Amiens, where she was a teacher. Brigitte Macron then began a relationship with one of her students, 24 years her junior. And while a controversy arose from comments made by Anne Hidalgo, on Twitter, she was forced to respond.
Anne Hidalgo’s explanations
Clearing herself of any malicious intent, the politician assured: “Neither in the question asked by Closer, nor in my answer, was there any link with the beautiful story of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron. It is neither my morals nor my ethics”.
