Jean-Luc Godard had hired Brigitte Bardot to share the poster with Michel Piccoli in Contempt, Franco-Italian anthology feature film adapted from the eponymous novel by Alberto Moravia. In this film that has become a legend of world cinema, Godard offered the actress a dreamlike scene and mythical lines with her partner, lulled by the sublime Camille’s Theme by Georges Delerue: “Do you see my behind in the mirror? – Yes… Do you find my buttocks pretty? – Yes, very…”. At the end of this dialogue, the character played by Michel Piccoli slips to the woman he loves: “I love you totally, tenderly, tragically.”
