Spectacular images. The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, an American city in the state of Maryland (east coast), collapsed after being hit by a large ship, American media reported Tuesday March 26.

Lanes are closed in both directions due to a “incident” on the bridge, the Maryland Transportation Authority warned on the social network. “The bridge collapsed after a collision with a ship”, specifies the authority, which redirected traffic. Baltimore police told NBC it was possible people fell into the Patapsco River.

“I can confirm that at 1:35 a.m., Baltimore City Police were notified of a partial collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, and that workers may be in the water.”, said a police spokeswoman. Shipping traffic tracking site MarineTraffic showed a Singapore-flagged container ship named Dalí stopped under the bridge early Tuesday.
