Base man of Fabien Galthié and present so far in the enlarged group of 42 players, the second row Bernard Le Roux is, this time, absent. The Toulousain registered one of the two tries of the Blues for his international debut. Scrum-half Baptiste Couilloud, who had remained at Marcoussis, is meanwhile forfeited to prepare for the match against Georgia. He is replaced by Palois Clovis Le Bail, called for the first time by the coach in July 2021 for the summer tour in Australia without playing a match.
La Rochelle left pillar Dany Priso, 14 selections, is called to the extended group for the first time since August 2019 and a match against Scotland in preparation for the World Cup. Another notable change: the three-quarter center Lyon Pierre-Louis Barassi also joins the contingent, after a start to the season disrupted by an ankle injury. Pau opener Antoine Hastoy has not been recalled.
