Brest puts an end to the good series of Losc

Undefeated in Ligue 1 since October 29 against Paris Saint-Germain (1-2), Losc lost to Brest on Saturday January 22 (2-0), and missed the opportunity to get back into the race to Europe. The Bretons opened the scoring very quickly, thanks to an own goal from Tiago Djalo, then managed to hold their advantage in the score before sealing their victory with a penalty from Steve Mounié at the very end of the match.

The yellow cards sent to Renato Sanches, Benjamin André and Burak Yilmaz for protest in the second period alone symbolize Lille’s frustration in this match against Stade Brestois. The Mastiffs conceded a goal in the third minute of the match, on a cross diverted by Tiago Djalo in his own goal, and while Brest did not frame a single shot in the first period.

Dominating, the Mastiffs moved forward, attacking the Pirates goal, but came up against a well-organized low block and Marco Bizot, the Breton goalkeeper in very good shape. With bad choices in the last passes and technical waste in the last gestures, the Lille residents did not manage to come back to the score, despite the entry into play of Hatem Ben Arfa. His kidney shots and his left paw still created gaps and the new northern number 11 did not go far from equalizing, but he too saw his strike deflected by the Brest goalkeeper.

Finally, as Lille threw their last forces into battle, the Bretons recovered the ball, quickly threw themselves on the counter, and obtained a penalty for a foul by Zeki Celik on Franck Honorat. Steve Mounié converted him, sealing the success of Michel Der Zakarian’s men. Defeated, Losc missed the opportunity to get closer to European places and found themselves a new pet peeve with Stade Brestois, which they had not beaten in four games.
