Here is an installation that could soon be developed: the mobile chicken coop. The concept, which comes from Germany, was adopted by a breeder in the Allier.

The hour of transhumance has come. Every three weeks, 250 pullets embark in a mobile chicken coop. “It is designed and homologated as a trailer”, points out Grégoire Roger, egg producer. These hens embarked for a fairly short trip since he will move them only 20 meters further, to an end of the field where the grass is greener.

For the producer, the mobile chicken coop represents two advantages: that of having always fresh grass for his hens and an advantage sanitary because the hens do not stay in one place, thus avoiding pests and diseases. The self-contained chicken coop runs on solar energy. Grégoire found this idea on Internet. 37,000 euros of investment which corresponds only to small breeding.
