The radiocommunication system which ensures communication between Montreal police officers and firefighters stopped working for nearly three hours during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
“The airwave system was interrupted during the night due to a breakdown. A plan has been put in place to ensure the safety of SPVM personnel and the response to emergency calls,” declared the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Sabrina Gauthier.
The outage lasted from 1:10 a.m. until around 4 a.m. “It had no impact on operations,” maintains the spokesperson.
The radiocommunication system, SERAM, was implemented in 2016 by the SPVM to replace the old system dating from the 1980s.
SERAM has experienced significant problems since its launch, including recurring failures during its first year of service.
