Men who had been laughed at after losing two games of pool in an open-plan establishment in Brazil took revenge by opening fire on customers, killing seven people including a 12-year-old girl.
In a shock video captured by a surveillance camera and relayed by the local media, we can see one of the suspects, armed with a pistol, lining up customers near a wall. Then, a second man gets out of a van with a long gun and walks towards people at a rapid pace, before opening fire without warning.
The two accomplices can then be seen recovering some banknotes and a satchel from the pool tables, before fleeing.
The gruesome scene to watch happened in the town of Sinop in the central state of Mato Grosso on Tuesday.
According to the police, one of the suspects, Edgar Ricardo de Oliveira, lost a game of billiards disputed with one of the victims in the morning, losing in passing a bet of 4,000 Brazilian Reals (about 1,000 $CAN). He returned in the afternoon to challenge the same man and lost again, drawing ridicule.
Oliveira and his accomplice, Ezequias Souza Ribeiro, then decided to seek revenge.
The deaths of six people, including a 12-year-old girl and the owner of the pool establishment, were confirmed on the spot. A seventh victim died in hospital.
The ages of the victims range from 12 to 48 years old. All are men, except the teenager.
Edgar Ricardo de Oliveira was found on Wednesday by military police who shot him dead after an exchange of gunfire. His accomplice intends to turn himself in to the police on Thursday, his lawyer told various local media.
