(Rio de Janeiro) Madonna will give a free megaconcert on May 4 on the legendary Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro, to celebrate the end of her tour, the singer and the organizers announced on Monday.
It will be her “biggest” concert ever given “so far, an unforgettable concert on one of the most beautiful stages in the world,” indicates a press release published on the American artist’s website.
This concert will mark the return to Brazil of Madonna, 65, where she last performed in 2012.
This immense show will be her only concert in South America as part of this tour, which marks her 40-year career in which she has performed in more than a dozen countries.
It will be the only free show of the “Celebration Tour”, intended to thank its Brazilian fans, according to the press release.
Organizers explained during a press conference that this concert will require similar logistics to the traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks show, which takes place every New Year on Copacabana beach, attracting at least a million people each year. .
In 2006, a Rolling Stones concert in Copacabana attracted between 1.2 and 1.5 million people, according to estimates.
The pop icon, winner of seven Grammy Awards, is currently on tour in North America.
Upcoming April dates include three concerts in Miami and five at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, the only Latin American stop before Rio.
