The long-awaited duel between Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) starts this Saturday May 6 at Fossacesia Marina. For the first stage of this 2023 edition of the Giro, a 19.8 kilometer time trial to Ortona awaits the peloton.

If the two huge favorites for the final victory can believe in their chances of victory on Saturday, it is Filippo Ganna (INEOS-Grenadier) who dreams of wearing the leader’s pink jersey at home. Freed from competition from the world champion in the discipline, Tobias Foss (Jumbo-Visma), package due to Covid, the Italian is the main candidate for victory. Apart from Roglic and Evenepoel, Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) is a serious outsider to become the first leader of this Giro. On the French side, Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) will try to limit the gaps with the big names in the peloton as much as possible.
