Brandon Belt joins the Blue Jays

Veteran first baseman Brandon Belt reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.

According to the Sportsnet network, the 34-year-old Texan will receive a salary of $9.3 million under this pact.

Belt spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the San Francisco Giants. In California, he notably won two World Series and was invited to the All-Star Game in 2016.

His successful stint with the Giants, however, ended in the infirmary. Bothered by a knee injury, he played just 78 games in 2022, in which he maintained a .213 batting average.

In career, the left-handed hitter has produced 584 runs and hit 175 long balls in 1,310 games.

At first base, Canada’s only major league baseball organization already counts on the services of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio.
