These recording studios located in the south of France saw many international artists pass in the 80s and 90s, such as Pink Floyd (for the album The Wall), The Cure, AC / DC, Sade, Muse, Sting, Bryan Ferry, Telephone or Indochine. Their name: the Miraval studios, an outbuilding of the castle of the same name, an estate surrounded by Provençal vines acquired by Brad Pitt in 2008.
Unused for almost two decades, this studio will resume service next summer in a completely redesigned version, desired by the Hollywood star in collaboration with the young musician Damien Quintard. “This new version of the studio pays homage to the past but looks to the future with a new approach to recordings“, explains the press release.
The idea is to build on vintage equipment from the original studio, which still works well, while still offering a Dolby Atmos mixing system. The studio will be structured around a hybrid “Sound Desk” designed by Brad Pitt and Damien Quintard.
“With its ceilings around 8 meters high, Studio One has a 100 square meter control room and a 320 square meter recording room that retains the iconic acoustics of the percussion room designed by Jacques Loussier in the seventies“, boasts the press release.
The venue offers recording booths, a dedicated area for rare vintage synthesizers and other unique equipment, and dedicated audio and video editing workstations. Everything is planned to accommodate the artists in the best conditions for a day or a month, swimming pool included.
Miraval Studios, which has planned to reopen its doors in the summer of 2022, has already started to fill its reservation book (contact: [email protected]).
