Boy George returns to Broadway in Moulin Rouge

(New York) Boy George, the icon of the group Culture Club of the 1980s, returns to Broadway in Red Mill ! The Musical.


The singer-songwriter, whose hits include Karma Chameleon And Do You Really Want to Hurt Mewill play Harold Zidler, the owner of the Moulin Rouge club, in the adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s film released in 2001.

He will slip into the character’s skin from February 6 to May 12 at the Al Hirschfeld Theater on Broadway, succeeding Tituss Burgess.

The show, which recounts the adventures of a turn-of-the-century Parisian nightclub, has been updated with tunes like Single Ladies And Fireworkin addition to the great success Lady Marmelade. The play won 10 Tony Awards in 2021, including Best New Musical.

Boy George last graced the Broadway stage in 2003 with Taboo for which he wrote the music and lyrics. Critics largely disapproved of this show, which recounted part of his life. He also performed in this show, but did not play himself.
