“After long procrastination, I finally decided to retire on my 34th birthday. I wish you “Bon voyage””, published Fury on his Twitter account, he who had however hinted at his return on Tuesday.
The “Gipsy King” then declared in a video posted on his Twitter account that he wanted to get back in the ring to challenge his compatriot Derek Chisora (33 wins -12 losses), whom he has already defeated twice. “I can be the first heavyweight champion to have two trilogies under his belt [une série de trois combats face au même adversaire, NDLR]. One vs. Deontay Wilder [qu’il a remportée, NDLR] and the other against Derek Chisora,” he explained.
Announcements that contradicted his remarks made in the spring before his victory by KO at Wembley (London) in the WBC world championship against the American Dillian Whyte.
Fury had notably declared in March before his fight for the WBC belt that he wanted to retire because he has “150 million euros in the bank and has nothing left to prove”.
In 33 professional fights, the Briton has never lost. He conceded only one draw against American Deontay Wilder in 2018.
